DI ANTARA CAHAYA / IN BETWEEN LIGHT aims to outline experimental filmmaking in Indonesia before and after the 1998 socio-economic-political events. Data were gathered primarily through 30-videotaped semi-structured interviews throughout Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali) with experimental filmmakers, scholars and other local stakeholders (programmers, distributors, exhibitors, journalists, etc). A supplementary video presentation was produced as adjunct to this narrative report of the study. Secondary data sources such as actual films and film-related documents were also gathered.
