BOTANIC

( 2013, pigment ink on fine art cotton rag, 213 x 152 cm each, series of 8)

BOTANIC explores the methodology of seeing; of applying scientific techniques to a common household artificial flower. The series of drawings follow the style of scientific botanical illustrations. While botanical illustrations are traditionally made from the observation of natural flowers, these illustrations, while depicting similar qualities, are fictional plant lives. These oversized drawings reflect on the artifice of nature, especially within one of the most biodiverse landscapes in the world.
