Human Traps

(2019, Black Square, Gold Circle, Silver Tee, steel, wood and nylon, 132 x 90 x 27 cm approximately)

Based on research into the swiftlet bird's nest economy in Southeast Asia, predators by air and by ground were subject to fatal traps that protect the nests inside the cement birdhouses that cultivates them.

These metal traps capture and kill predators by air, specifically owls, but re-engineered to a human scale. The square, circle, T-shapes form a design trio fit for a home. The gold, black, and silver form common colors and materialities in modern furnishings.
